Our Lady Queen of Peace Pastoral Area in the Archdiocese of Armagh, Ireland. The Pastoral Area is comprised of four parishes in mid Louth: Darver & Dromiskin, Kilkerley, Knockbridge & Louth.
In Our Lady Queen of Peace Pastoral Area, our Baptismal Team offers a warm and welcoming introduction for parents preparing to have their first child baptised in the Catholic Church. Once the Baptism date has been confirmed, parents are invited to attend a preparation meeting led by members of our team of dedicated volunteers.
Each month, two members of the team host an informal session that helps families understand the Sacrament of Baptism and the meaning behind the Rite and Symbols of Baptism. Parents are guided through the ceremony and given the opportunity to choose readings and psalms for the celebration. Family members or close friends are encouraged to participate in the ceremony by proclaiming the Word of God, helping to strengthen family bonds and deepen faith.
This ministry also provides an opportunity for parents to reconnect with parish life and reflect on their own faith journey as they make this important decision for their child. Our hope is that each family experiences the love of Christ and feels welcomed into the parish community.
Every meeting begins and ends with a prayer of blessing for the child and their family.
All volunteers are fully supported and Garda vetted.
If you would like to join the team or arrange for your child to be baptised, you can contact the Pastoral Area Office on (042) 682 7418 or by email at olqopoffice@gmail.com
